Progressive Decentralization
Millicent One approaches progressive decentralization as a strategic journey to transition governance and decision-making to a community-driven framework.
In public blockchain ecosystems, decentralization is essential for enhancing security, promoting transparency, ensuring community control, and fostering innovation through diverse participation.
However, beginning with complete decentralization can be both challenging and impractical, as the early stages of a project often require a clear vision and tightly coordinated efforts to effectively launch and iterate toward product-market fit.
Millicent One aims to achieve sufficient decentralization as early as possible to address security concerns, enhance resistance to censorship, and minimize undue influence over the protocol from any single entity, whilst also retaining the ability to ‘move fast and fix things’.
This approach is exemplified by the Alpha Governance phase, which provides significant community involvement from day one, enabling participation in crucial decisions even before mainnet launch.
As the network matures, it plans to further increase community control, implementing more sophisticated governance mechanisms, and expanding the scope of community-driven initiatives.
